Job Classification ServiceNow CMDB Specialist - 148194 Closing date - 16 October 2026 Job Family Information Technology Career Stream Application Development Leadership Pipeline Manage Self: Technical Job Purpose We are seeking a skilled and motivated ServiceNow CMDB Specialist to manage and enhance our ServiceNow CMDB environment, including Discovery and Service Mapping capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of configuration data, maintaining service-to-infrastructure relationships, and supporting visibility of critical business services across the enterprise Job Responsibilities Design, implement and maintain ServiceNow Service Mapping solutions to accurately map business services and their underlying infrastructure components. Configure and support ServiceNow Discovery and Service Mapping to automate the population and maintenance of CMDB data. Ensure service maps remain accurate, current, and aligned to operational and business requirements. Work closely with infrastructure, application and service owners to identify dependencies and maintain service relationships within the CMDB. Improve visibility into service health and impact analysis through effective Service Mapping practices Administer, maintain and optimise the ServiceNow CMDB (configuration Management Database) platform. Ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of Configuration Item (CI) data. Design, implement and maintain CMDB governance standards, policies and processes. Configure and support ServiceNow Discovery to automate asset and infrastructure population. Develop and maintain integrations, workflows and automation solutions within the ServiceNow platform. Identify and resolve CMDB data quality issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with infrastructure, application and service owners to improve configuration management practices. Support ServiceNow platform enhancements, upgrades and releases. Produce reporting and dashboards related to CMDB health, compliance and data quality. Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to configuration management processes. Provide technical guidance and support to stakeholders on CMDB and ServiceNow best practices. Essential Qualifications - NQF Level Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate Preferred Qualification Degree or Diploma in IT Preferred Certifications ServiceNow certification highly preferred, such as: Certified System Administrator (CSA) Certified Application Developer (CAD) Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in Discovery or CMDB (advantageous) Technical Skills ServiceNow Administration ServiceNow Service Mapping Service Mapping and Dependency Mapping ServiceNow Development CMDB Design and Management ServiceNow Discovery Configuration Management JavaScript REST/SOAP Integrations ServiceNow Workflows and Flow Designer Data Governance and Data Quality Management ITIL Framework Knowledge Minimum Experience Level 3-5 years of hands-on ServiceNow experience in an administration and/or development capacity. Proven experience working with ServiceNow CMDB. Experience implementing and supporting ServiceNow Discovery. Experience with ServiceNow automation, workflows and integrations. Strong understanding of IT Service Management (ITSM) and Configuration Management processes. Experience in enterprise-scale environments.
