Join our team and be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment that embraces technological advancements to deliver value and drive our digital transformation journey. Key Responsibilities: Join Nomura's Global Markets IT team at the forefront of transformational change in capital markets technology. Our group maintains mission-critical infrastructure for OMS/EMS, Pricing, and Position Marking across listed derivatives trading operations. This is not a conventional testing role—you'll be building the quality infrastructure that powers real-time trading systems used by sales, trading desks, compliance, middle office teams, and external clients worldwide. This is a highly demanding, fast-paced role in an environment that has fundamentally transformed how the bank builds software, pivoting to modern architecture patterns, cloud-native infrastructure, and continuous delivery practices. You'll be at the intersection of financial markets and engineering excellence, where downtime is measured in millions and quality is non-negotiable. Test Infrastructure & Automation Design, build, and scale automated testing frameworks from scratch for mission-critical OMS/EMS platforms, pricing engines, and position-marking systems Own end-to-end test automation for real-time trading workflows, market data integration, and regulatory reporting pipelines Build test harnesses that validate nanosecond-latency order routing, exchange connectivity, and risk calculations CI/CD & DevOps Integration Embed automated test suites into continuous integration/deployment pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) Enable multiple daily deployments to production through robust quality gates and automated regression coverage Champion shift-left testing practices across engineering teams transitioning to modern architecture Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner directly with front office sales and trading to understand market workflows and trading scenarios Work with compliance teams to automate regulatory testing for trade surveillance, audit trails, and reporting accuracy Collaborate with middle office and external clients to validate reconciliation, P&L attribution, and settlement workflows Conduct code reviews with developers, advocate for testability, and drive quality standards across the engineering organization Production Resilience Build test data generation pipelines that mirror live market conditions and high-volume trading scenarios Own root-cause analysis for test failures, flaky tests, and production defects Establish observability and synthetic monitoring for critical trading paths Technical Foundation Programming proficiency: Strong command of Python, Java, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript—you write production-quality code, not just test scripts Testing expertise: Deep understanding of unit, integration, API, contract, and end-to-end testing trade-offs; experience with testing frameworks (pytest, JUnit, TestNG, Jest, Cypress) DevOps & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI; comfortable with infrastructure-as-code Financial Markets & Real-Time Systems Understanding of order management systems (OMS), execution management systems (EMS), or FIX protocol Familiarity with listed derivatives (options, futures), pricing models, or position-keeping concepts Experience testing low-latency, high-throughput systems where performance and correctness are critical Mindset & Approach Quality ownership: You see quality as a team responsibility, not a gatekeeper function Velocity mindset: You thrive in fast-paced environments and enable rapid, safe deployments Curiosity: You ask 'why' and dig into system behavior, architecture decisions, and trading workflows Modern engineering practices: You're excited about cloud-native architecture, microservices, event-driven systems, and observability Why This Role Matters You'll be joining a team that has transformed Nomura's approach to software delivery in capital markets. This isn't legacy infrastructure maintenance—this is greenfield opportunity to build the quality foundations for next-generation trading platforms. Your automation frameworks will directly impact trading desk productivity and revenue generation, regulatory compliance and audit readiness, system resilience during market volatility, and speed of feature delivery to competitive markets. If you want to combine deep technical skills with real-world financial markets impact, keep pace with relentless delivery demands, and architect quality at scale—this is the role. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 0–3 years of professional experience in software development, SDET, or quality engineering roles Demonstrable coding ability through personal projects, open-source contributions, or internships Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn complex domain concepts quickly Excellent communication skills—you'll be working across technology, trading, and business teams Nomura Leadership Behaviours Explore Insights & Vision: Identify the underlying causes of problems faced by you or your team and define a clear vision and direction for the future. Making Strategic Decisions : Evaluate all the options for resolving the problems and effectively prioritize actions or recommendations. Inspire Entrepreneurship in People : Inspire team members through effective communication of ideas and motivate them to actively enhance productivity. Elevate Organizational Capability : Engage proactively in professional development and enhance team productivity through the promotion of knowledge sharing. Inclusion : Foster a culture of inclusion and psychological safety in the workplace and cultivate a "Risk Culture" (Challenge, Escalate and Respect). * base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, corporate and functional title and duties, job-related knowledge and advanced degrees, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
