Job description

The Finance Business Partner uses commercial acumen, analytical skill and storytelling to provide decision support and challenge that ensures the business takes decisions that maximise value. The Specialist – Finance Business Partnering is a key member of the team acts as the trusted Finance advisor to commodity results and projects, as well as driving change and meeting the specific needs of the business as a respected and trusted business partner. In addition to being accountable in providing analysis and insight, the Specialist – Finance Business Partnering optimizes existing business models or acting as ‘intrapreneur’ and designing new ones. With end-to-end visibility, understanding of the entire business and technical knowledge, the the Specialist – Finance Business Partnering engages strongly with stakeholders owning and challenging the issues, working jointly with other teams on strategy & planning, innovation, market research and business model change. They piece together information from different sources to develop a truly informed picture of how value is created and put at risk across the organization, recognising inherent trade-offs as businesses deploy different capitals. Translate analytical findings into clear compelling story, conveyed through ad hoc and regular reporting in both written and verbal form. Business advisory Proactively engage with the front / mid-office teams to frame business questions that shape analytical agenda. Originate data from a variety of internal and external sources and in a variety of fields, including operational, financial and accounting. Use Business Intelligence tools to prepare and analyse data, surfacing insights on key performance drivers to support decision making. Communicate the insights and recommend strategic and tactical action, suggesting opportunities for improvement and value delivery. Be key finance advisor to Marketing Exco. Financial planning Develop and implement models to forecast financial results and position, enabling informed working capital and cash decisions and supporting regular outlook and budget processes. Embed delivery of a standardized financial forecasting process across Marketing - prepare and process data/information required for actual, forecast, budget, interim and year end reporting to support the reporting of results for the commodity. Continuously evolve and refine forecasting processes to improve forecast accuracy and strengthen quality of decision making Performance management Design and prepare regular and ad hoc performance reports, including analysis and supporting information to meet internal requirements and deadlines for Marketing and Group. Drive a collaborative process that provides visibility across the value chain performance and enables improvement in performance management. Conduct analysis and provide insight into performance trends and results to identify value/improvement opportunities. Collaborate within the finance team to access data and understand information from all relevant sources and develop on-demand information for users. Work with Group Finance and Investor Relations to improve internal and external understanding of performance and the Marketing Narrative for your particular commodity, leveraging deep knowledge and understanding of the technical and commercial aspects of the business matched with financial acumen. Project management and support Support cross-disciplinary teams in ideating, designing and implementing ad hoc projects, including establishing new corporate or financing structures, executing M&A deals or securing approval for new lines of business. Support the delivery of material cross commodity and functional projects which impact the broader Finance function. Ensure changes are embedded into business as usual process Learning and development Drive a culture of continuous improvement, big data thinking and collaborative ‘smart team’ working Stay up-to-date with technology and leverage latest software tools in analysis and reporting. Support the implementation of new technologies to deliver next generation Strong academic credentials : in Finance, with CA, CFA CPA qualification. Commercial acumen : ability to identify how the business generates value. Experience within commodities industry, with marketing, trading and logistics experience preferred. Financial planning and analysis : applies a broad range of data analytical techniques to draw conclusions and optimize financial performance. Capacity to analyse and find insight in large datasets. Investment Appraisal : compiles investment proposals and challenges investment assumptions/ provides specialist expertise Governance and Compliance : applies Governance and Compliance knowledge within the business to mitigate risk and identifies new ways to assess adherence Project management : applies project management techniques to manage large and complex projects and ensures changes are embedded into business as usual process Finance process : understands the elements of key financial processes, principles of process design and delivery requirements needed for the business and applies a broad range of data analytical techniques to draw conclusions and optimise financial performance. Financial regulatory environment : understanding and application of relevant accounting principles, IFRS, policies and processes - Financial Controlling / local statutory accounting standard, IFRS, and local tax law Technology : understands the fundamental principles of effective financial and accounting systems and is aware of how technology can be deployed to deliver efficiency, effectiveness and control to meet the defined business requirements. Working knowledge of SAP and Hyperion preferred. Commercial Reasoning and Application - Understands every element of the marketing value chain, financial concepts and appropriate risk management, and applies this knowledge to achieve business success and growth. Experience in business partnering or business consulting. Constructively engage stakeholders to a common cause through developing mutually beneficial solutions and proposals. Has ability to understand business needs and value drivers, and recommend appropriate commercial solutions Strong credible communication and presentation skills Some travel may be required.
