Job description

ABOUT onX We’re a team of builders, adventurers, and risk takers using technology to help people confidently explore the outdoors. Driven by our mission to awaken the adventurer inside everyone, we build products that optimize every outdoor experience and inspire confidence to get out and go further. We’re a high-growth tech company. The pace is fast, the work takes grit, and ambiguity is part of the job. As the world changes around us, we adapt - continuously evolving how we build, prioritize, and deliver. Our business moves quickly, and there’s real opportunity to shape what we build next. Each of our verticals - Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, and Fish - is at a different stage of maturity, which means the challenges you encounter and the impact you have will vary depending on where you sit and what the business needs most. We operate with an experimentation mindset, continually iterating and improving how we solve problems. We expect our people to use the latest tooling, including AI, thoughtfully and responsibly, pairing human judgment with technology to increase quality, speed, and impact. Our impact comes to life through the products we build, in the stories of our customers, and in our growing commitment to land stewardship and recreational access. ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY For this role, candidates must be based in Texas, Mississippi, or Georgia . About the Role The Senior Community Marketing Manager will own the Community Marketing strategy for their region—connecting the onX Fish brand to anglers where they live, fish, and engage — while measurably contributing to regional business goals. This is a strategic, hands-on Lead role. This person will own the regional Community Marketing strategy and key results, and partner with Paid and Growth on shared outcomes such as vertical starts and conversions where creator, community, and paid efforts work together. They will develop a Regional Community Expert while staying close to the field and the communities they serve. The right person understands how Community Marketing fits within the broader marketing mix and can determine where local programs can most effectively contribute to awareness, acquisition, engagement, and retention. They will make thoughtful decisions about where to invest, experiment, scale, or stay focused elsewhere—using customer insight, performance data, and business priorities to guide those choices. They will also serve as a critical connection between regional fishing communities and the broader onX Fish organization—bringing firsthand customer insight, emerging opportunities, and authentic regional stories into Marketing and Product while keeping local efforts connected to the broader brand strategy. This role reports to the Head of Marketing for Fish. WHAT YOU'LL DO Essential Job Duties & Functions Shape the Regional Community Marketing Strategy Develop and own the annual Community Marketing strategy and quarterly plans for your region, aligned to broader Fish, Marketing, and business priorities. Determine the right mix of ambassadors, partnerships, retail, grassroots initiatives, events, creators, earned media, and other community-driven programs based on regional needs and opportunities. Identify growth opportunities and make informed tradeoffs about where to invest, experiment, scale, or stay focused elsewhere using customer insight, expected business impact, available resources, and measurable outcomes. Partner closely with Paid and Growth to connect community, creator, and content efforts to shared acquisition and conversion goals, using performance insights to improve the work together. Build frameworks and playbooks that allow successful approaches to scale while maintaining authenticity within local fishing communities. Build Community & Regional Impact Build trusted relationships with anglers, retailers, guides and outfitters, conservation organizations, creators, ambassadors, and other partners who deepen onX Fish's connection to the community. Maintain a meaningful presence in the field to strengthen customer understanding, identify emerging opportunities, and ensure regional strategy reflects the communities we serve. Pilot new programs and approaches locally, using results and customer feedback to determine what should be refined, scaled, or stopped. Partner across Social, Integrated Marketing, Product Marketing, Creative, Growth, Sales, and Analytics to bring regional customer insight, stories, trends, and opportunities into the broader business. Lead & Enable the Regional Team Provide clear direction, coaching, and development to the Regional Community Expert, creating the context and support they need to operate with increasing ownership. Establish priorities, operating rhythms, and repeatable playbooks that enable focused execution without requiring your direct involvement in every activity. Manage budgets, timelines, vendors, and stakeholders while creating scalable processes that keep regional programs moving effectively. Lead by example by remaining connected to the field while creating the systems and clarity that enable others to execute successfully. Measure, Learn & Evolve Define clear measures of success for priority initiatives and use performance data, customer insight, and field learning to understand what's working, what's not, and why. Translate learning into decisions about where to increase investment, adjust the approach, test something new, or stop. Partner with Analytics, Growth, and other teams as needed to strengthen measurement and understand Community Marketing's contribution to business outcomes. Apply AI, automation, and emerging tools to accelerate insight, improve execution and measurement, and create more scalable ways of working. WHAT YOU’LL BRING 7+ years of experience in community, brand, growth, field, or integrated marketing, with a track record of building programs that connect brands with customers and communities. Proven experience building and scaling ambassador, partnership, event, retail, or grassroots marketing programs. Direct experience coaching, mentoring, or leading others, with a track record of creating clarity and enabling strong execution. Experience establishing measurement approaches and using marketing performance data to evaluate effectiveness and inform investment decisions. Demonstrated ability to move between strategic planning and hands-on market engagement, using firsthand customer insight to shape priorities and decisions. Strong strategic judgment with the ability to translate business and customer priorities into focused plans and execution. Demonstrated experience applying AI and emerging technologies to marketing workflows to accelerate insight, improve execution, strengthen measurement, or increase operational efficiency. Strong project management and operational skills, with experience managing budgets, timelines, vendors, stakeholders, and multiple priorities. Experience working cross-functionally across Product Marketing, Creative, Growth, Sales, and Analytics. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with fishing, outdoor culture, or another enthusiast-driven community is strongly preferred; deep curiosity and the ability to build credibility with anglers are essential. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX.
