TOTAL PUBLIC MEMBERS:  14METHOD OF APPOINTMENT:Appointed by the Mayor with the advise and consent of CouncilLENGTH OF APPOINTMENT:3 yearsRESIDENCY:Strong preference for District residency, with representation from all 8 wardsPAID BOARD: No (all roles are voluntary) Current District of Columbia residents will receive priority and advanced preference for screening and interviews.descriptionThe Statewide Health Coordinating Council shall:Assist the Statewide Health Planning and Development Agency (SHPDA) in the development of the Health Systems Plan (HSP);Review and make recommendations to the SHPDA on the HSP; andMake recommendations to the SHPDA on an application for a certificate of need.The Health Systems Plan (HSP), issued every five (5) years and reviewed annually, guides health policy in the District by presenting data to:Articulate issues with respect to maintaining and improving the health of District of Columbia residentsDemonstrate health care trends over multi-year periodsIdentify health needs of District of Columbia residentsIdentify needs of the health care delivery systemPrioritize health care issues. commission membershipThe Council shall be comprised of fifteen (15) members appointed as follows.Fourteen (14) public members appointed by the Mayor including the following:Four (4) consumers of health care services in the District who are not affiliated with any health care provider or facilityFive (5) public membersTwo (2) representatives of incorporated associations of health care facilities in the DistrictOne (1) physician representing an incorporated association of professional physicians in the DistrictOne (1) nurse representing an incorporated association of professional nurses in the DistrictOne (1) representative of an incorporated association of the health care insurance industry in the DistrictThe following government representative appointed by the Mayor:Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) designeetime commitmentThe Council meets monthly.If you are interested in an appointment to this council, please complete the appointment application and attach the required documentation.
