Structural Steel CNC Operator

CNC Machine Operator Location: York, PA Job Type: Contract-to-Hire Shift: 2nd Shift Pay: Starting at $23.00/hour + $3.00/hour night differential Higher pay may be available depending on experience. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Operator to set up and operate CNC equipment used to process structural steel components. The ideal candidate has structural steel fabrication experience, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to read shop drawings and work accurately with precision measuring tools. What You'll Do Operate and set up CNC equipment, including plasma cutters, beam drill lines, and angle lines . Review blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions and production requirements. Use overhead cranes and rigging equipment to position and secure beams, plates, and other steel materials. Monitor equipment during production and make adjustments to maintain accuracy and quality. Measure completed work using tape measures, calipers, squares, and other precision tools . Make basic programming changes to accommodate varying material sizes and thicknesses. Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshoot basic machine issues. Keep the work area clean and follow OSHA and shop safety requirements . Requirements High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training is a plus. At least 2 years of CNC machine operation experience , preferably in structural steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing. Ability to read and understand structural steel shop drawings. Experience using precision measuring equipment. Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging is preferred. Strong mechanical skills and attention to detail. Able to work independently and contribute effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
