AVL-AST D.O.O. offers a job in Croatia (HR) as Student (m/f/d) - Vehicle Dynamics Simulation for Off-Road Applications We're seeking a motivated student to support the development of vehicle dynamics simulation models for off-road and all-terrain applications. You'll help parameterize and validate virtual vehicle models, correlate simulations with real-world test data, and leverage modern tools and AI-assisted methods to drive engineering insights. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: Model Development & Simulation (AVL VSM) ▪ Support the development and maintenance of virtual vehicle models for off-road and all-terrain applications ▪ Assist in setting up and parameterizing full-vehicle models for off-road behavior (traction on deformable soil, ride over rough terrain) ▪ Help parameterize and validate tire and soft-soil models for off-road conditions Testing & Validation ▪ Prepare and execute virtual test maneuvers representative of off-road driving scenarios ▪ Correlate simulation results with physical test data and support model validation and calibration activities ▪ Post-process, analyze, and visualize simulation results to derive first engineering insights Integration & Automation ▪ Support model setup and integration for Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environments ▪ Build and maintain automation scripts and tool chains for model setup, correlation, and data analysis Tools & Documentation ▪ Document methods, test procedures, and results ▪ Support the preparation of internal reports ▪ Leverage AI-based methods and tools for efficient development, post-processing, and documentation YOUR PROFILE: Education & Background ▪ Enrolled student (Bachelor or Master) in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field ▪ Hands-on, curious mindset with a structured and reliable working style Technical Knowledge ▪ Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics fundamentals ▪ Interest in off-road / all-terrain vehicle behavior (traction, mobility on deformable soil, ride over rough terrain) ▪ First exposure to vehicle dynamics simulation tools (e.g., AVL VSM, CarMaker, Adams Car, VI-Grade) is an advantage ▪ Interest in tire modeling and terramechanics/soft-soil modeling concepts Specialized Skills ▪ Proficiency in data analysis and scripting (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Python) ▪ Interest in using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar) ▪ Understanding of model correlation and validation against test data is a plus ▪ Interest in Driver-in-the-Loop (DiL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulation environments and real-time model requirements Soft Skills • Good command of English, both written and spoken • Team player with good communication skills in a cross-functional, international environment Key Requirements ▪ Student status (Bachelor/Master) ▪ Vehicle dynamics fundamentals ▪ Scripting & data analysis skills (MATLAB/Python) ▪ English proficiency ▪ Willingness to learn simulation tools & AI-assisted methods WE OFFER: competitive compensation flexible working hours comfortable offices (no open space) hybrid work option contribution to projects of high technical complexity & business value international work environment well organized work at a steady, sustainable pace Interested?
