Position Summary: Responsible for the supervision of the housekeeping department, ensuring maintenance of equipment and supplies and adequate staffing. Responsibilities Functions as supervisor for all housekeeping personnel and directs work activities. Participates in and assigns all personnel in Housekeeping duties. Will adjust schedules to accomplish tasks, and determine performance of tasks under the supervision of the department manager. Under supervision, participates in the hiring, termination, and evaluation of staff based on job performance. Schedules shifts, vacations, etc., of all department personnel, ensuring adequate coverage of areas. Coordinates staff relief for meals, breaks, and meetings. Trains and orients personnel in proper procedures and techniques. Arranges in-service programs and other educational training for staff. Determines supplies needed to perform the jobs, orders and maintains supplies and equipment. Responsible for the laundry service, including the supplies, linens, and condition of the equipment. Will schedule laundry process to ensure adequate supplies for all patient needs. Will evaluate public areas and restrooms for cleanliness on a timely basis. Local travel required. Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED. Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of housekeeping and/or supervisory experience required. Licensure Requirement: Employee must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
