Located within the Edmonton Metropolitan Region, Beaumont offers the opportunity to lead municipal parks operations in a dynamic and community-focused environment. The Public Works department is seeking a Team Lead, Parks to oversee the daily maintenance and operations of municipal parks, green spaces, sports fields, Clear Water Cemetery, and seasonal amenities. In this role, you will provide leadership to Parks staff, coordinate contractors, support special events, and ensure service levels are delivered safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. What YOU’RE Responsible for:Leading Daily Parks OperationsPlanning, organizing, scheduling, and monitoring daily maintenance activities across parks, sports fields, playgrounds, cemetery grounds, and public green spacesSupervising full-time and seasonal staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and promoting a strong team cultureOverseeing contractors to ensure safety, quality control, and compliance with contract requirementsCoordinating equipment and fleet maintenance in collaboration with the Fleet CoordinatorSupporting special events through setup, staffing coordination, traffic control, and site maintenanceMonitoring weather conditions and responding to after-hours or emergency situations as requiredService Delivery & Community EngagementInvestigating and responding to service requests from residents, contractors, and internal departmentsProviding clear, professional communication — including education and de-escalation when necessaryMaintaining detailed records and ensuring timely closure of service requestsReview and provide comments on park and trail components of various residential and commercial applications, ranging from high level documents such as Area Structure Plans to detailed civil engineering drawingsHealth, Safety & ComplianceLeading the implementation of the City’s Health & Safety Program, including Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA), inspections, and incident reportingEnsuring staff adhere to safety standards and wear appropriate PPEConducting playground safety inspections (CAN/CSA-Z614) and ensuring public-facing amenities are safe and compliantSupporting contractor safety oversight and complianceOperational Planning & Budget SupportAssisting with budget planning and monitoring expenditures within approved operating and capital budgetsStrategically allocating staff, equipment, and contractor resources to meet service levelsProcuring materials and supplies in alignment with budget and operational needsProviding technical input on access permits and operational projectsWhat YOU Bring:Minimum 4 years of related experience, including supervisory or leadership experienceMinimum 2 years of post-secondary education (equivalencies will be considered)Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Q endorsement and clean driver’s abstractClean Criminal Records CheckStrong knowledge of parks and recreation operations, equipment, arboriculture, horticulture, and turf maintenanceExperience with equipment operation and maintenanceSound understanding of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Act, safety legislation, and best practicesStrong leadership, decision-making, and conflict resolution skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office and operational softwareCertifications (Must have or be willing to obtain within the first 18 months of employment):CAN/CSA-Z614 Playground SafetyPesticide Applicator CertificationSAGA and Powered Mobile Equipment Operator certifications (including Loader, Grader, Backhoe, Skid Steer, Excavator, MEWP, Fall Protection, etc.)Assets:Previous supervisory experience for Safety Excellence (LSE)Parks and Sports Field OperatorArboriculture Canada courses or horticulture-related credentialsTurf Science Certificate (Level 1 and 2)Utility and Equipment Operator certificationsTurf Management from Sports Turf CanadaIntegrated Pest Management (IPM) CoursesAdvanced Certificate of LeadershipLandscape Horticulturist Apprenticeship or Horticulture Technologist DiplomaMunicipal (City Works) experienceWork Environment & Physical Requirements:Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, climbing, and operating equipmentComfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and coldWillingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and participation in an on-call rotationWhat WE Offer: A salary range of $ 90,750.40 - $ 118,393.60 per annum (based on experience and qualifications)Employer-paid Health and Dental benefits packageHealth, Wellness & Learning Spending AccountMembership to the Beaumont Sport and Recreation CentreEnrollment in the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP)40-hour work week (evening, weekend, and on-call work required as operational needs dictate)And an amazing team to work with!!This is a leadership role with real impact.
