Through its unique pilot line for extreme optics, comprising an advanced optical design platform, ultraprecision prototyping and manufacturing facilities, and a state-of-the-art optical metrology cleanroom, B-PHOT is internationally recognized for its expertise in optical modelling, fabrication, characterization, and proof-of-concept demonstration of optical modules and photonic systems. B-PHOT currently brings together more than 70 experts , including photonics researchers, engineers, and technology specialists. More information can be found at www.b-phot.org . As a Technical Expert CAD/CAM , you will play a key role in supporting the design, manufacturing, and characterization of advanced optical and opto-mechanical components. You will work closely with experienced technology experts, researchers, and industrial partners. Your responsibilities include: Preparing and optimizing design files for optical, mechanical, and opto-mechanical components using CAD/CAM software environments, and supporting the transition from design to manufacturing. Operating advanced fabrication technologies, including 5-axis ultraprecision milling and polishing machines, diamond machining equipment, injection moulding systems, and/or hot embossing replication technologies. Supporting the fabrication and prototyping of high-precision optical and opto-mechanical components. Assisting with the characterization and quality control of fabricated components using advanced metrology equipment, including profilers, interferometers, and other precision instrumentation available in the B-PHOT cleanroom facilities. Contributing to the continuous optimization of fabrication and characterization workflows within the B-PHOT pilot line. 3 - Profile Required Qualifications You hold a Master's degree in Technological Engineering/Engineering Sciences , specialization Electromechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Photonics, Electronics, ICT, or an equivalent qualification through relevant professional experience. You have experience with, or a strong interest in, CAD/CAM software environments and are motivated to learn new tools and technologies. Experience with CNC machining is considered an asset. Experience with precision manufacturing equipment and/or optical metrology systems is an advantage. You have good written and oral communication and reporting skills in English and/or Dutch . Competencies You have strong analytical skills and can quickly understand, summarize, and evaluate technical information. You enjoy working in a hands-on technology environment and are motivated by supporting cutting-edge research and innovation. You are service-minded and take pride in creating added value through your technical expertise. You are a team player with an open and collaborative mindset. You are well organized and capable of planning, executing, and following up on multiple tasks simultaneously. You demonstrate initiative and a proactive attitude in solving practical challenges.
