The Terminal Manager oversees day-to-day operations at aggregate rail terminals in Central Texas and fosters teamwork across each facility. The role’s primary objective is to build a collaborative environment focused on safety, quality, operational excellence, reliability, and achieving company goals. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) • Supervise, evaluate, train, coach and motivate personnel supervised • Oversees and directs inventory control and terminal operations • Responsible for incoming product receipts, transfers and shipments • Develops and maintains a hands-on working knowledge of all operational processes and equipment • Responsible for oversight of plant facilities, maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance and expansion projects • Maintains a working knowledge of all tests and product specification requirements and coordinates with technical personnel to maintain product quality and consistency • Work diligently and follow all safety requirements to prevent product contamination and avoid product loss • Responsible for safety enforcement and environmental programs along with agency compliance, documentation and reporting • Oversee the necessary sampling and testing of products in the terminal and as it is received into the terminal • Maintain current records of test results • Manage cost control and local purchasing of equipment, raw materials, and supplies for routine operations of the plant and recommend the need for any capital expenditures. • Control and maintain inventory levels • Create and manage terminal budgets to meet cost and volume expectations • Maintain quality assurance of the products as required • Manage routine plant maintenance • Routinely inspect the plant, vehicles and equipment and report repairs as needed • Assist with accident and environmental investigation/compliance • Complete all paperwork and reports required by the company in a timely manner • Review timecards and monitor attendance • Adhere to and positively communicate all company policies • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required • Other duties as may be assigned Qualifications Education/Experience • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related field is preferred but not required • Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. • Minimum 2 years prior experience in an aggregate production facility or related field • Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required Knowledge/Skill Requirements • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with customers and company personnel. • Ability to supervise and control personnel to accommodate customer satisfaction. • Solid technical and analytical skills, mechanical skills and problem-solving ability. • Competency in prioritizing, making effective decisions, and implementing change. • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to master local operational software. • Ability to take initiative and be a problem solver. • Ability to make good judgment calls when under pressure. • Ability to read, write, and comprehend detailed instructions. • Ability to understand maps. • Ability to perform mathematical functions pertaining to billing, volumes, quantities, etc. Work Requirements • Must be 18 years old or older. • Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check. • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as per company policy. • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. • Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Safety Vest. • Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations. Physical Requirements • Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. • May require sitting for extended periods of time. • Lift, carry and hold materials, tools and supplies. • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus. • Must be able to hold weights of 5-10lbs in a stretched arm position for extended periods of time. • Must be able to lift 50 lbs (minimum) on a repetitive basis unassisted. • Must be able to exert forces of 50 lbs for pushing/pulling. • Able to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. Work Environment • Able to work in all weather conditions. • Able to work extended hours if needed. • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn. • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but is typically moderate.
