Job description

As a Test Engineer, you will be part of our seven-person QC/Test team supporting the inspection, testing and quality assurance of equipment at our repair facility in Søgne and at supplier locations. This is a practical, technically focused role combining mechanical and hydraulic knowledge with inspection, testing, documentation and stakeholder interaction. You will work both independently and as part of an experienced multidisciplinary team, collaborating with customers, suppliers and third parties such as classification societies. Your development will be primarily hands-on. You will build knowledge of NOV equipment, procedures and applicable standards by working alongside experienced colleagues and participating in equipment overhaul and testing activities. Our aim is for you to develop toward independently acting as a Test Lead for equipment you have been trained on, taking responsibility for conducting tests with customers and third parties. The team offers broad technical exposure across quality, mechanical and hydraulic systems, electrical systems, PLC/software and engineering. Previous team members have developed further into areas including technical engineering, hydraulics, PLC/software and project engineering. Perform inspections and quality-control activities on equipment at our Søgne repair facility and at supplier locations. Prepare equipment for testing and perform testing in accordance with relevant procedures and requirements. Develop toward independently leading equipment tests involving customers and third-party/classification representatives. Follow up with customers, suppliers and classification societies throughout inspection and testing activities. Prepare clear and accurate inspection and test documentation and reports. Support equipment overhaul activities where required to build and apply practical equipment knowledge. Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy and HSE throughout all activities. Work effectively both independently and as part of the QC/Test team, with occasional travel primarily within the local region and, when required, internationally. Bachelor’s degree or other higher education, preferably with experience from the offshore industry. Extensive relevant experience/practical competence may compensate for formal education. Forklift and overhead crane certification and experience would be an advantage. Strong technical understanding and know-how. Good ability to read and understand technical drawings, along with good computer skills. Good written and spoken Norwegian and English. PLC experience would be an advantage. Trade certification in mechanics and/or hydraulics, as well as welding, would be an advantage. Minimum 5+ years of experience.
