About the role Applications are now open for our Asset Inspection Trainee intake, commencing in early February 2027. Asset Inspectors are responsible for inspecting and assessing power poles and associated overhead and underground assets across our network, with the key purpose being to identify and categorise faults, defects, and condition of the poles. This Traineeship will run over a 12-month period, combining formal paid classroom training and field work to enable you to gain the skills, competencies and experience required for an industry recognised certification (Certificate II in Electricity Supply Industry – Asset Inspection and Testing). The role requires someone who is comfortable working autonomously and is willing to travel frequently. During the Traineeship period, our Trainees are required to travel and live away from home in areas all across our network. This role is covered by the Electrix Pty Ltd & ETU Powerline Enterprise Agreement 2023-2026. Traineeship eligibility: V alid Australian driver’s licence Live within 30 minutes or 50km from Ballarat depot If you do not meet this criteria and it is not addressed in your cover letter, your application may not be progressed. At least one of the following pre-requisites: Units 1 & 2 General Maths and English (Year 11 equivalent); or VCAL or VCE Vocational Major; or Cert 2 in Electrotechnology or equivalent. If you are currently completing a pre-requisite subject, you are eligible to apply, as long as it will be successfully completed by the end of 2026.
