Purpose of the Role To ensure that all driver / operator competencies are kept up to date and maintained to a high standard. Carry out any training requirements to enable personnel to be fully competent in their job role. To ensure all Rail Services On Track Machines, Freight & I.M Trains are operated in full compliance with Colas Rails’ ROGS certification, Railway Group Standards and Health and safety Legislation. Key Responsibilities To manage the training/assessment programme to ensure all undertaken as required by the business and the Competence Matrix and driver files are in date and updated accordingly. To respond to any SPAD, Incidents or accidents involving Rail Services train drivers and produce thorough and comprehensive reports including immediate cause/s and recommendations. Provide regular reports on competence assessments and any foreseeable risks to operational performance. Carry out operational briefings as directed. Undertake operational competence assessments as needed, complete training plans where required, working closely with Senior Trainer Assessor. Collaborate with the Senior Trainer Assessor to ensure all training, assessment and competency requirements are recognised and that all records are up to date, visible and auditable. Ensure the Training requirements of personnel are met and are continually reviewed and assessed and any issues are to be communicated with the Senior Trainer Assessor so action plans can be submitted. Carry out training plans to ensure personnel are rostered in to fulfil their training and competency requirements. Drive trains when required. Carry out on call duties as required by the business. The above does not limit your duties and the company may require you from time to time to undertake any work within your capability and capacity. As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements. Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time. Person Specification The job holder will have: • Have experience of operating both OTP machines and Freight/I.M trains. • Always have safety as the primary consideration in all aspects of delivering and managing the people, process and equipment in Colas Rail. • Have extensive experience and knowledge of Rail Services service delivery and operations. • Be a proven team player with a logical searching mind. • Possess the ability to analyse problems thoroughly and make good timely decisions (analysis and decision making). • Be able to build and maintain positive relationships within and across teams (team working). • Create and contribute to an environment whereby themselves and others are motivated to learn and develop (developing self/others) • Demonstrate the desire to achieve results through determination and commitment, ability to keep going when things are difficult (drive). Qualifications/Experience • Must be competent to RT3451 or at least 3 years practical experience of driving • trains on Network Rail running lines • Hold Train Driving Rules and Regulations Qualifications and competencies • Competent in Driving Duties • Qualified to undertake City and Guilds A1 assessments • Qualified in the City and Guilds 7331 training competency.
