Work with cutting-edge defence technology Career development opportunities Flexible working options About the Role As the Transition Engineering Principal, you will provide technical leadership across the transition from the Defence High Frequency Communications System (DHFCS) to the Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS). You will lead complex systems engineering activities, technical investigations, reviews and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), applying your engineering judgement and experience to support effective decision-making throughout the program lifecycle. You will take ownership of high-quality technical outputs, documentation and engineering solutions, while supporting Handover-Takeover (HOTO) activities at operational sites across Australia. Working closely with internal and external customers, you will lead technical presentations and formal reviews, manage technical risks, ensure relevant standards and procedures are applied, and contribute to continuous improvement across engineering processes, safety and operational capability. About You You are an experienced systems engineering professional with the technical depth and leadership capability to make complex engineering decisions and provide trusted advice across a major Defence program. You will bring strong knowledge of engineering design, analysis, integration and support practices, together with the ability to investigate complex technical issues, assess risk and develop practical, sustainable solutions. You will be comfortable providing coaching, mentoring and technical direction, building strong relationships across engineering and wider business teams, and communicating complex technical information clearly to customers and stakeholders. A commitment to knowledge sharing, professional development, process improvement and a strong Safety, Health and Environmental culture will be highly valued. To be successful in this position you will bring: Extensive experience in technical/engineering roles Strong systems engineering experience, ideally within RF, HF or communications disciplines. Proficiency in applicable engineering toolsets (e.g. PLM or MRP systems, design, simulation and analysis software). A good understanding of defence and government programs (preferably in sustainment of systems). Hold an accredited (under the Washington Accord) bachelor’s degree in {Communications/Mechanical/Electrical/Systems} engineering.
