Overview Registered Nurse, CVICU — San Luis Obispo, California. Travel assignment in a short-term acute care setting starting 08/03/2026 for 13 weeks. Key Highlights - Weekly pay: $1,714–$1,810 per week - Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week - Contract duration: 13 weeks - Shift: Night shifts, 3x12s (1900–0730) or 4x12s on a rotating schedule - Start date: 08/03/2026 - Work setting: CVICU within a short-term acute care hospital - Certifications required for start: TNCC, ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (within listed timelines) Responsibilities - Plan, coordinate, and provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the CVICU, including those requiring ventilation, neuro/trauma care, respiratory support, and hemodynamic monitoring. - Supervise and delegate care to ancillary personnel in accordance with their scope of practice; ensure patient safety and quality of care. - Interpret ECG rhythms, respond to life-threatening events, and manage immediate interventions in emergent situations. - Monitor and adjust telemetry and monitoring parameters; verify alarm settings with the Monitor Technician per policy. - Provide care for patients with ICP/ventriculostomy monitoring; manage invasive lines and drains; administer medications and IV therapies, including blood products. - Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, follow chain of command, document accurately, and communicate changes to physicians and families as appropriate. - Maintain clinical proficiency in essential ICU skills and equipment, ensuring readiness for rapid changes in patient condition. Requirements - Licenses and certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice; Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 1 year of hire (current employees have extended timelines); NIHSS required. - Education: High School diploma or GED required; Associate Degree (A.A. or A.S.) required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (B.S.N.) preferred. - Experience: At least two years of recent critical care experience; six months of prior CVICU or related ICU experience preferred. - Additional: Ability to work in a fast-paced CVICU environment; flexibility to rotate nights and shifts as needed; California RN license or eligibility.
