Overview Registered Nurse - Med Surg position in Bethel, Alaska. Start date 08/18/2026 for 13 weeks. Guaranteed hours 32 per week with a rotating day and night shift. Travel - temporary assignment in a hospital setting. Weekly pay range: $2,150–$2,172 per week. Key Highlights - Weekly pay: $2,150–$2,172 per week - Guaranteed hours: 32 per week - Contract duration: 13 weeks - Shift: Rotating (days and nights) - Start date: 08/18/2026 - Setting: Hospital travel assignment Responsibilities - Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) and coordinate nursing care for individuals across the continuum. - Perform initial patient assessment with 24-hour reassessment, monitor condition, document findings, and respond to changes in patient status. - Administer medications and treatments, interpret diagnostic results, provide patient and family education, and collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize outcomes. - Provide care for patients across the lifespan—from birth to elderly—including post-surgical and behavioral health patients; apply age-specific considerations and culturally competent care. - Support and participate in behavioral health patient management using therapeutic communication; demonstrate proficiency in managing acutely ill or behavioral health presentations. - Collaborate with other professionals and supervise unit support staff (e.g., unit secretaries and PCTs) in conjunction with the Charge Nurse; maintain flexibility with a rotating schedule and independent action within prescribed limits. - Maintain licensure and professional competencies in alignment with Alaska RN practice standards; contribute to care continuity and safety. Requirements - Licenses and certifications: Current Alaska Registered Nurse license in good standing; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NV-CIT). - Education: Graduation from a NLN-approved nursing program; new graduates accepted. - Experience: New graduates accepted; pediatrics and adult patient experience preferred. - Additional requirements: Ability to work in a hospital Med Surg setting with rotating day/night shifts; proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination may be required. - Competence: Ability to perform nursing duties, document actions accurately, and interpret clinical data; willingness to obtain and maintain required competencies for this position.
