Overview Registered Nurse, PCU (Progressive Care Unit) — San Luis Obispo, California. Start date 08/03/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range $1,956–$2,086 per week. Guaranteed hours: 36 per week. Shift: 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM–7:30 AM). Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital. Travel - Temporary Assignment. Key Highlights - Weekly pay: $1,956–$2,086 per week - Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week - Contract duration: 13 weeks - Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts - Start date: 08/03/2026 - Setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital, telemetry/step-down environment Responsibilities - Plan, coordinate, and provide nursing care for patients in the step-down/telemetry unit, including monitoring and responding to clinical changes. - Accurately interpret ECG rhythms and manage patients during life-threatening emergencies; verify alarm settings with the Monitor Technician per policy. - Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and manage indwelling catheters and drains safely. - Care for patients post coronary intervention (e.g., femoral sheath management) and post-procedural patients such as post permanent pacemaker or AICD placements; care for patients with stable acute coronary syndrome. - Collaborate with the care team and supervise/delegate responsibilities to ancillary personnel within the scope of practice; follow the established chain of command. - Maintain thorough documentation, ensure equipment readiness, and participate in quality and safety initiatives as required. Requirements - Current RN license in the state of practice (California) required - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from an approved vendor required - NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within 6 months of hire - NIHSS certification and related stroke performance knowledge required - Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred - Basic Dysrhythmia course and Critical Care course preferred - 6 months of cardiac step-down or telemetry experience in the last 2 years preferred - Ability to work night shifts and function effectively in a fast-paced, telemetry/step-down setting - Willingness to float to medical-surgical units if needed Benefits and Support - 24/7 recruiter and travel support - Dedicated on-assignment support - Guaranteed hours and consistent weekly pay - Credentialing and onboarding assistance - Access to additional travel openings with the same employer Find more opportunities Explore additional RN travel openings with Healthforce Healthcare LLC at https://healthforce.applytojob.com/apply Please note: Pay rates and guaranteed hours are estimates and may vary.
