Your personal sphere of influence: As a Predoctoral University Assistant at the Department of Romance Studies, you will contribute to research and teaching within the research group led by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Elissa Pustka. Our research focuses on phonology, phonetics, (staged) orality (particularly in comics), language contact, language variation and change (with a particular focus on creole languages, foreign language learning, and mass media), and empirical methods (fieldwork, corpus linguistics, perception experiments, statistics, etc.). The employment duration is 3 years . Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible. Your future tasks: You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means: You are involved in research projects and scientific studies of the team. You publish in internationally recognized journals, give conference presentations, and organise academic events; You finalize your dissertation agreement within 6-12 months. You work on your dissertation and its completion. You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement. You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration. You participate in the organization of conferences and meetings. You contribute to the preparation and submission of applications for externally funded research projects. This is part of your personality: Completed Master’s, Diploma, or teacher education degree in Romance Studies, General Linguistics, or Phonetics, with a focus on French linguistics Doctoral research project within the thematic and methodological focus areas of the research group Excellent command of French Innovative ideas, the ability to work independently, a willingness to learn and try new things, and the courage to develop and implement new ideas What we offer: Work-life balance: Our employees enjoy flexible working hours and can partially work remotely.
