We give businesses the ability to instantly support employees with the right physical goods, and give employees the flexibility to choose what works for their unique needs. Firstbase is part of AppDirect, a subscription commerce platform that powers millions of subscriptions worldwide for organizations selling any product, through any channel, on any device—as a service. About You You are a hands-on technician who is equally comfortable lifting and unpacking hardware and navigating a terminal window to run diagnostics. You have a solid working knowledge of Windows and macOS, and you understand what it takes to bring a used device back to a production-ready state—from physical cleaning and component inspection to OS imaging and MDM enrollment. You take serial numbers and condition grading seriously, because you know that accuracy at intake prevents costly errors downstream. You are familiar with data sanitization standards and understand why secure handling of offboarded devices matters for clients. You work steadily and precisely in a fast-paced warehouse environment, managing multiple devices in various stages of the asset lifecycle without losing track of status or chain of custody. What you'll do and how you'll have an impact Receive, inspect, and log inbound IT assets—primarily laptops and peripherals—into the warehouse management system, verifying hardware configurations and applying asset tags. Perform cosmetic grading and functional testing (keyboard, display, ports, battery health, audio) to assess device condition and route units into the correct workflow: redeployment, refurbishment, harvest, or recycle. Execute NIST 800-88–compliant data sanitization across SSDs and HDDs, removing security locks such as iCloud Activation Lock, BitLocker, and BIOS passwords before reprocessing. Re-image devices with clean OS installations across macOS, Windows 10/11, and ChromeOS using bootable USB, PXE, or automated recovery methods, and apply required firmware and OS updates prior to shipment. Enroll provisioned devices into MDM platforms (Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, or Kandji) and verify Apple Business Manager or Windows Autopilot bindings for zero-touch deployment. Conduct cycle counts and inventory audits, maintaining organized storage racks by asset status to ensure system data matches physical stock. Pick, pack, and ship orders—individual or palletized—using appropriate protective materials and generating accurate shipping labels and manifests in the WMS. What we're looking for 1–3 years of hands-on experience in IT support, hardware repair, electronics refurbishment, or asset warehousing. Demonstrated ability to navigate and troubleshoot Windows 10/11 and macOS, including use of command-line diagnostic tools. Experience using barcode scanners and asset tracking or inventory management systems to maintain accurate records. Familiarity with data sanitization practices and tools (e.g., Blancco, KillDisk) or an understanding of NIST 800-88 standards. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and remain on your feet for a full shift in a warehouse environment. Strong attention to detail when logging serial numbers, grading device condition, and managing chain of custody—because errors at any stage of the asset lifecycle affect client outcomes and order accuracy.
