Open to: Division-WideWork Week: NL (35-hour) Work WeekSalary: (R25) $79,843.57 - $117,227.97Opening Date: 9/14/2026Closing Date: 9/28/2026Existing Vacancies: 1Program/LocationDepartment of Environmental ProtectionWatershed & Land ManagementLand Resource ProtectionFlood Hazard & Stormwater Engineering501 East State StreetTrenton, NJ 08625Scope of EligibilityOpen to permanent employees in a competitive title who work for the Division of Land Resource Protection and meet the requirements below.DescriptionUnder general supervision of a supervisory official in a state department, institution, agency, or local government agency, takes the lead or may supervise the performance of engineering work including but not limited to water management, air pollution control/management, coastal resource management, hazardous/non-hazardous waste control/management; reviews engineering plans, makes determinations and/or recommendations on plans; field visits, inspections, investigations/surveys; gathers data, researches and analyzes information as it relates to environmental control work; and/or the enforcement of environmental laws and/or regulations; works with Environmental Impact Statements; does related work as required.Specific to the PositionUnder the general direction of an Environmental Engineer 4, this EE3 is responsible for the daily supervision of the assigned staff.  The EE3 will reviewing engineering materials proposed under Critical Permitting Team (CPT) and assist staff with prioritizing CPT projects to ensure reviewed is conducted in a timely manner.Preferred Skill SetDetailed oriented, ability to multitask, strong customer service, and Microsoft Office skills, especially Word and Excel, the ability to work independently and as part of a team. A detailed understanding of hydrologic and hydraulics calculations and ability to make decisions for project compliance with the Flood Hazard Area Control Act and Stormwater Management rules. RequirementsEDUCATIONGraduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental, Ocean, Coastal, Bio-Resource, Sanitary, Industrial, Agricultural or Mining Engineering, or other field of engineering related to the environment.NOTE: A valid Professional Engineer's license issued by the New Jersey State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors may be substituted for the Bachelor's degree in Engineering.EXPERIENCE:Three (3) years of professional experience in environmental engineering work. NOTE: A Master's degree in one of the fields specified above may be substituted for one (1) year of the above experience.NOTE: All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting.
