Job description
AECOM is seeking an Aviation Construction Representative to support airfield civil construction projects at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). This is an on-site, field-based position supporting active construction activities within a highly operational airport environment. The Construction Representative serves as a consistent field presence during active work and provides timely, accurate information to project and construction management leadership. The role monitors construction progress, field conditions, safety and airfield operational requirements, helping identify issues early so they can be addressed before they affect subsequent work, inspections or airport operations. This position requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment and clear communication. The Construction Representative works closely with project managers, construction managers, quality assurance personnel, airport operations and contractors while maintaining defined limits of authority. The role does not formally accept construction work or direct contractor means and methods. Key responsibilities The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Maintain an on-site field presence aligned with contractor work windows, approved closures and active construction activities. Monitor work in progress and provide timely field status regarding setup, progress, completion, inspection readiness and changing site conditions. Observe installed materials and construction activities for general conformance with approved plans and specifications and identify apparent discrepancies before work progresses. Distinguish between routine observations, potential concerns and conditions requiring escalation, and communicate issues promptly to the appropriate quality assurance, construction management and project management personnel. Monitor airfield safety and operational requirements, including barricades, temporary lighting, temporary markings, foreign object debris (FOD) control and closure limits. Support compliance with applicable airfield operational requirements, including considerations related to runway and taxiway safety areas, object free areas and other protected areas. Confirm closure readiness before construction begins and support safe turnover of work areas for airport operations at the end of each work period. Identify and immediately escalate unsafe or potentially noncompliant conditions and exercise stop-work authority when an immediate safety or operational risk exists. Support closure setup and breakdown in coordination with airport operations and contractors. Coordinate contractor access to restricted or controlled areas and provide escort support when required. Assist with inspection coordination by maintaining awareness of active work, communicating inspection needs and identifying items requiring quality assurance attention. Track daily construction quantities, locations and limits of work and provide field information supporting quantity verification and reconciliation. Identify quantity discrepancies or uncertainties early and communicate them to project leadership. Prepare or contribute to daily field reports documenting construction activities, safety and operational conditions, access issues, inspections, quantities, corrective actions and unresolved items. Maintain appropriate photo documentation of construction progress and field conditions. Communicate end-of-shift status so project leadership understands completed work, pending inspections, open issues and risks affecting subsequent activities. Coordinate daily field activities within approved plans, specifications, closures and established project procedures. Operate within established authority and escalation protocols; do not approve design changes, requests for information, submittals, final pay quantities or contractor means and methods, or commit the owner to cost or schedule changes.
