Role Summary
The Head of Design/Design Lead has a powerful combination of Brand, communication concepts, social media content, presentation design and understanding of video and motion graphics. This leader needs to have enough expertise to connect the dots and see the big picture to ensure design specifications and cohesiveness in all areas of the business (marketing, brand, product). This position is responsible for leading teams in delivering outstanding and accessible product and service designs, that reflect the brand, by performing the following duties:
Develop brand communication and design concepts that meet the business objectives of the organization and that advance our brand and proposition strategy.
Work with cross functional teams, product manager and engineers to understand needs and develop innovative design solutions. Shape, articulate and execute on billups brand vision to drive and elevate design initiatives. Co-shape the big business ideas to be developed and ensure the design framework and vision is understood by all interested parties.
Core Role Duties:
- Create content & brand design. Produce clear, on-brand materials across formats — presentations, marketing content, event materials, and print. Build and maintain branded templates that keep quality consistent and production efficient.
- Manage multiple projects at once and guide creative teams. Often under compressed timelines, work to produce multiple high-quality deliverables within scope and inspire, lead and instruct team members. This will include working on several projects all at the same time. A successful candidate will be able to lead as a thought partner to project owners, and work under tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of excellence.
- Conceptualize and execute elements for motion graphics and video, including L&D videos. Work with creative and marketing teams on scripting, storyboarding, and creating design elements for film editors and videographers.
- Support storytelling & narrative. Help translate goals, data, and subject-matter input into a clear through-line. Partner with team members to structure content so it's easy to follow and superb in aesthetics and design style.
Essential Skills
- 6 to 10 years in graphic design, content design, corporate communications, advertising or a related field — ideally withs some exposure to 3D design software and AI tools.
- Design craft: Solid proficiency with a modern design toolkit (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and presentation platforms like PowerPoint or Keynote), with good layout and visual-communication skills. Excellence in typography and art direction.
- AI curiosity: Comfort experimenting with AI tools (such as Google Gemini and generative image/video tools) as creative aids, and eagerness to keep learning as they evolve.
- Collaboration & initiative: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, good time management, and a willingness to take initiative and exercise sound judgment.
- Fundamentals: Full professional English fluency (written and verbal); comfort with common productivity suites (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, ClickUp).
