Mechatronics Test Engineer – Hardware Verification & Validation

OverviewInabia is seeking a Mechatronics Test Engineer – Hardware Verification & Validation to develop and execute comprehensive test programs, plans, and methodologies for subsystem and complete system verification and validation. This onsite role, based in North Reading, MA, supports the development of new robotics and automation technologies with a focus on test bench design, instrumentation, data acquisition, data processing, and engineering analysis. The ideal candidate will translate raw measurement data into meaningful engineering insights that directly inform design decisions and accelerate product development.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute test programs, test plans, and test methods for complex hardware/software systemsIdentify appropriate test plans, methodologies, and equipment based on program development stagesDevelop functional specifications, Design Verification Plans (DVPs), and functional test proceduresDesign, commission, and operate test benches for robotic systems, including actuators, batteries, sensors, cameras, and other electromechanical subsystemsPerform subsystem verification and complete system verification and validation testingDevelop test strategies for complex hardware/software systems and systems of systemsSelect and configure instrumentation and laboratory equipment required for testingProcess, analyze, and interpret test data to determine system performance metricsCreate detailed test reports comparing measured results against product specifications and requirementsProvide test results and engineering insights to support design decisions and product improvementsSupport new technology and product development programs from concept through validationCollaborate with engineers across multiple disciplines to execute testing and resolve technical issuesOperate effectively in a high-ambiguity environment and develop practical test solutions for evolving requirementsKey QualificationsExperience developing functional specifications, Design Verification Plans (DVPs), and functional test proceduresExperience developing test strategies and plans for complex hardware/software systems or systems of systemsDemonstrated ability to develop and execute tests in a high-ambiguity environmentStrong understanding of hardware verification and validation methodologiesExperience with test bench development, instrumentation, and data analysisPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalentExperience working with interdisciplinary engineering teams across the full product lifecycle from concept through productionExperience managing technical projects and coordinating technical deliverablesExperience selecting, sourcing, commissioning, and setting up laboratory equipment from third-party vendorsExperience with robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, or complex hardware productsStrong analytical and technical problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills
