Mine Engineer

PURPOSE & SCOPE OF THE POSITION The Mine Engineer is responsible for supporting mine operations, including short and medium range mine planning, mine surveying, ore control, geotechnical monitoring, and will provide technical guidance/support for the Mine Department and other Departments as required. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in the creation, refinement, and implementation of the short and medium range mine plans (material sequence; metal delivery; access planning; pit design; shot muck inventory; blast design and planning; dump sequencing; leach pad loading). Chairing daily, weekly, and monthly mine plan discussions to ensure all departments have buy-in. Coordinate or complete mine surveying activities and other Field Engineering Technician assignments to fully optimize this group’s time and efficiency. Complete mine planning and technical evaluations and assist/direct the activities for long and short-term projects (i.e. reclamation; hydrology; leach pad design; dump design; third party engineering studies; blasting techniques & procedures). Assist in developing accurate budgets. Assist Mine Operations department to determine equipment requirements. Assist with mine closure design and planning. Prepare accurate and defendable monthly production reports. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geologic Engineering or Civil Engineering. 1-2 years of responsible mine engineering experience and/or Summer Intern - open-pit mining operation preferred but not required. Mine Operations/Supervision experience would be beneficial. Be a leader, motivator, and embrace our Zero Harm culture. Be able to work safely and in a team environment and communicate well with others Excellent analytical, management, organization, communication and problem-solving skills. Willingness to perform multiple and variable responsibilities is required. A working knowledge of MineSight or other mine planning software package is preferred but not required. Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, Minestar, JDE is preferred. Ability to operate four-wheel drive light vehicles.
