About the Role - Tēnei tūranga: The Senior Advisor supports the Head of Innovation and Business Capability and wider leadership team to ensure the business unit operates effectively and delivers on its priorities. The role sits across a broad range of activities including business planning, reporting, governance, and strategic initiatives. It works closely with leaders and teams across the business unit to identify issues, coordinate activities, provide advice and support decision-making. This is a varied role that requires someone who can quickly understand new topics, thrives in ambiguity and someone who has excellent communication skills, who can quickly get their head around complex and varied issues. The role plays an important part in connecting people, information and process across the business unit, while helping to ensure priorities are delivered and opportunities are realised. Ngā pukenga me ngā wheako e hiahiatia ana - Skills and Experience Required Examples include: • Proven ability to deliver in a government setting and through complex authorising environments. • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work to agreed timeframes. • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including broad experience of machinery of government processes, including ministerial and memo writing experience. • Ability to analyse information, identify key issues and provide practical recommendations • A sound understanding of planning, performance and reporting, continuous improvement, and assurance processes. • Experience with ministerial reporting, with a strong understanding of public sector accountability and transparency requirements. • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and work effectively with leaders, colleagues and stakeholders. • Strong organisational and systems thinking skills, with the ability to design and embed scalable, sustainable processes. • A proactive approach, with the confidence to take ownership and drive wo rk forward. • Good understanding of MBIE process and operational best practice.
