We're looking for an exceptional commercial leader to help shape opportunities from conception through to transaction, ensuring the right commercial frameworks are in place to deliver long-term value for customers, communities and the energy market The opportunity This is not a traditional commercial role. You will lead the legal and commercial strategy for major emerging network projects and complex transactions, helping to shape commercial frameworks, contractual models, governance structures and risk allocation mechanisms that support nationally significant infrastructure development. Working directly with executive leaders, legal advisors, developers, investors, regulators and delivery partners, you'll play a pivotal role in navigating the commercial, legal and regulatory complexities that underpin successful project development. You will be at the forefront of commercial negotiations, transaction development and strategic decision-making, influencing projects long before construction begins. What you'll be doing Lead commercial and legal workstreams Drive commercial strategy across major network and non-network opportunities. Lead the development and negotiation of key commercial agreements and transaction frameworks. Partner closely with internal and external legal advisers on complex commercial arrangements. Structure deals that appropriately allocate risk while supporting successful project outcomes. Shape strategic transactions Lead commercial input into project origination activities. Support investment cases, Board papers and governance submissions. Participate in transaction strategy workshops and commercial negotiations. Influence client and stakeholder outcomes through sophisticated commercial engagement. About you You're a commercially astute leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys influencing strategic outcomes. You'll bring: Significant experience leading commercial and/or legal workstreams on major infrastructure projects. Strong contract negotiation and risk allocation experience. Experience developing commercial structures and transaction strategies. Strong understanding of project financing, governance and investment decision-making. The ability to confidently engage and influence senior stakeholders, clients, investors and advisors. A tertiary qualification in law, finance, engineering or another relevant discipline. Highly regarded Experience within energy, utilities, infrastructure or regulated industries. Exposure to the National Electricity Market and regulatory frameworks. Experience supporting large-scale project development or concession-style infrastructure transactions.
