Senior Software Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE We're a Y Combinator–backed, seed-stage AI startup modernizing procurement and distribution for the defense, aerospace, and industrial sectors. Our small, high-caliber team of ~15 embeds directly into client operations to build AI-native systems that bring order to fragmented, legacy-heavy environments — automating quoting, sourcing, and operational workflows at scale. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our core platform team. This is a backend-leaning full-stack role where you'll design and ship end-to-end features across frontend UI, backend services and APIs, AI workflows, and database schemas — all in service of high-value supply chain operations. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Collaborate with the platform team and forward-deployed customer-facing engineers to design, build, and maintain robust full-stack systems. - Integrate with complex legacy environments (ERP, CRM, supplier portals, spreadsheets, shared drives, and more). - Build and maintain backend services and RESTful or GraphQL APIs. - Develop frontend UIs using Svelte and TypeScript. - Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and write efficient SQL for data-intensive workflows. - Contribute to AI workflows and validation systems that power real-time operational intelligence. - Manage and deliver multiple projects in parallel within a collaborative, co-located team environment. - Work closely with teammates across SF and Warsaw offices. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Required: - Up to 5 years of software development experience (we value depth and demonstrated impact over years alone). - Proficiency with Svelte and TypeScript for frontend development. - Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and efficient query writing. - Experience designing and implementing backend services and RESTful or GraphQL APIs. - Proven ability to integrate with legacy systems and complex technical environments. - Experience contributing to AI workflows and/or validation systems. - Comfort shipping full-stack features end-to-end in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment. - A collaborative mindset — this team moves fast and works closely together, both in-person and across time zones. Nice to Have: - Experience working in or with distributed, multi-location engineering teams. - Domain knowledge in supply chain, logistics, procurement, defense, or aerospace. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS - Salary: $150,000 – $220,000 USD annually, depending on experience. - Equity participation in a well-funded, early-stage company. - Opportunity to work on genuinely hard technical problems with a high-caliber, mission-driven team. Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION This is an on-site role based in San Francisco, CA. Candidates must be willing and able to work from our SF office. Relocation to San Francisco is expected.
