Job Summary: Provides strategic and operational leadership for multiple asphalt manufacturing operations within an assigned market area. Responsible for overall safety, profitability, production performance, capital planning, workforce leadership, and long term operational sustainability. Main Responsibilities: • Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams • Support, promote, and practice the Company’s core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies • Direct all aspects of operations related to manufacturing in assigned area to support achievement of established performance indicator targets related to safety, production, quality, and financial performance • Establish budgets and production schedules, prepare monthly forecasts, and monitor operational performance • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to manufacturing operations • Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and development for the asphalt plant operations team and other manufacturing leaders within the assigned area • Establish performance expectations for plant leadership teams and ensure consistent execution of operational, safety, quality, and financial objectives across all assigned facilities • Ensure collaboration, communication, team development, and recognition by establishing effective communication channels, leading team meetings, etc. • Develop and coordinate implementation of plans for efficient use of materials, equipment, and employees • Actively monitor market trends and anticipate production needs; adapt processes and coordinate production schedules in conjunction with sales, construction, and quality control teams to meet internal and external demand • Actively participate in bidding and estimating processes including review and analysis of bid results • Prepare profit and loss reports for manufacturing operations; present operational budgets to senior management • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external vendors, customers, representatives of local/county/state government and industry partners • Develop long-range manufacturing strategies, capital improvement plans, and operational initiatives to support growth, sustainability, and operational excellence • Coordinate with asset management team to develop capital expense budget to support sustainability and growth • Review production costs and product quality, and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operations Education: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field of study; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience • Current MSHA Certification and/or ability to obtain may be required • Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required Skills: • 8+ years of experience in aggregate mining, construction materials manufacturing (ready-mix, aggregates, and/or asphalt) or similar area preferred • 5+ years of experience effectively handling, leading, motivating and developing teams • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local agency regulations (OSHA, MSHA, DEQ, DOT, etc.) • Experience handling budgets and performing in-depth financial analysis • Self-directed, driven by results, and highly motivated, requiring minimal direct guidance • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, problem-solve, and work under consistent pressure of deadlines • Demonstrated proficiency using computer programs, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), and production/scheduling planning software Physical Requirements: • Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required • Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds to handle materials, tools, and equipment essential job functions with or without assistance • Regularly uses hands to feel, handle, and manipulate objects, write, and operate a keyboard and/or mobile device to complete administrative tasks and support project documentation • Regularly communicates (talks and hears) and uses visual acuity to exchange information, coordinate work, and maintain safe and effective job‑site operations • Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to access work areas and complete required tasks • Frequently stands or works on feet for extended periods and walks across uneven terrain to navigate construction sites safely and effectively • Frequently works in close proximity to heavy equipment and machinery to oversee field activities • Frequently works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needs • Occasionally experiences exposure to fuel, oil, and other chemicals associated with construction equipment and site activities • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends; overnight travel may be required Compensation & Benefits: Compensation*: $135,000 - $160,000 DOE* *Estimated target starting compensation; actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual’s qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
