Job Group Capability Information Technology Job Group Compute & Application Platform Job Role Description We are seeking a Network Automation and DevOps Engineer to design, build, and maintain automation platforms that support large-scale enterprise network infrastructure and device lifecycle management. This role combines network automation, software engineering, DevOps practices, and platform integration expertise to drive operational efficiency across a global network environment. You will work on automation solutions that manage network device commissioning, decommissioning, configuration management, monitoring, and lifecycle orchestration while integrating with enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow, Infoblox, CyberArk, Datadog, and other network management systems. The ideal candidate combines strong Python software engineering skills with a deep understanding of network infrastructure, API-driven integrations, cloud-native development, and modern DevOps methodologies. Job Role Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Network Automation & Infrastructure Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for network operations, including provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, compliance, and diagnostics. Automate network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure using frameworks such as Ansible, Nornir, Netmiko, and Scrapli. Identify opportunities to replace manual operational processes with scalable automation solutions. Develop automated onboarding, firmware lifecycle management, configuration deployment, and decommissioning workflows for network devices. Implement network monitoring and analytics capabilities to provide operational insights and proactive issue detection. Design automated remediation workflows for recurring operational issues. Software Engineering & Platform Development Build and maintain Python-based applications, services, and orchestration platforms supporting network lifecycle operations. Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using modern Python frameworks such as FastAPI. Design scalable, maintainable software architectures using microservices and containerized deployments. Apply software engineering best practices including testing, code reviews, version control, and continuous integration. Develop reusable libraries, tools, and automation frameworks to support multiple engineering teams. Maintain strong typing standards using modern Python features, including Pydantic and abstract base classes. Required Qualifications Experience 5+ years of experience in Network Automation, DevOps, Software Engineering, or related engineering disciplines. Experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments and automation initiatives. Proven track record delivering production-grade software solutions and operational platforms. Technical Skills Expert-level Python development skills. Strong experience with FastAPI or equivalent modern API frameworks. Strong understanding of REST API design, integrations, and system interoperability. Experience with Linux-based systems and application deployment. Advanced Git proficiency and experience with CI/CD pipelines. Experience with GitHub Actions and deployment automation. Experience with Ansible, Nornir, Netmiko, Scrapli, or similar automation frameworks. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration platforms. Knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience designing and consuming APIs across third-party enterprise systems. Understanding of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC). Knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB and configuration item (CI) relationships. Experience with DNS and IPAM concepts, preferably using Infoblox. Familiarity with network device lifecycle processes including commissioning, replacement, and decommissioning. Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions. Front-End Skills Strong React development experience. Experience with modern frontend architecture, state management, and API integration. Ability to design user experiences for complex operational workflows and data-heavy applications.
