Data Engineer

The purpose of this role is to maintain, improve, clean and manipulate data in the business’s operational and analytics databases. The Data Engineer works with the business’s software engineers, data analytics teams, data scientists and data warehouse engineers in order to understand and aid in the implementation of database requirements, analyse performance, and troubleshoot any existent issues. Job Description: Key Accountabilities • Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL/data pipelines. • Develop and maintain robust data models for analytics and reporting. • Integrate data from diverse systems (ERP, CRM, APIs, etc.). • Ensure data quality, governance, and validation frameworks. • Optimize performance of queries, pipelines, and data storage. • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. • Support BI teams with curated and high-quality datasets. • Troubleshoot complex data and system issues independently. • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and standards. • Contribute to automation and process improvements. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional Knowledge/Skills • 5–8 years of experience in data engineering or BI development. • Strong proficiency in SQL, ETL tools, and data modeling. • Hands-on experience with tools such as Spark, Azure/AWS, or similar. • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.). • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment Personal Job Attributes/Capabilities • Independent contributor with strong technical ownership. • Makes design-level decisions within defined scope. • Mentors junior team members.
