Key Responsibilities Design and architect scalable, secure, and compliant multi-cloud platform solutions thatalign with enterprise cloud strategy and governance frameworks Define and enforce cloud security policies, guardrails, and compliance standards across theplatform to ensure consistent, risk-aware operations Lead platform engineering initiatives to build and operate shared cloud services, tools, andinfrastructure that accelerate application team delivery Partner with application delivery teams to provide architectural guidance, enabling fast,secure, and compliant deployment of solutions in the cloud Drive innovation by evaluating emerging cloud technologies and integrating best practicesinto the platform roadmap Optimise platform operations by identifying opportunities to improve reliability, performance,cost efficiency, and developer experience Collaborate with Cloud Technology Management to ensure platform design and services arealigned with strategic steering and guidance Develop and maintain architectural documentation, standards, and reference architecturesto support consistent platform adoption across the organisation Mentor and support engineering teams in cloud architecture best practices, fostering aculture of continuous learning and improvement Engage with stakeholders across engineering, security, and business units to translaterequirements into robust cloud platform capabilities About the Team The Public Cloud Platform Delivery Team is a dynamic unit within the Engineering Platformsdepartment, dedicated to enabling the organisation's cloud ambitions. The team owns andoperates a sophisticated multi-cloud platform — managing security policies, service operations,and shared tooling that empowers application teams to deliver secure, compliant, and innovativesolutions at pace. With a mission to design, build, and operate best-in-class cloud platforms andshared services, the team partners closely with application delivery teams to innovate in a fast,secure, and compliant way that drives measurable business value. Guided by Cloud TechnologyManagement, the team is committed to providing an efficient, value-driven engineeringexperience that sets the standard for cloud excellence. About You You are a seasoned cloud professional who combines deep technical expertise with acollaborative and forward-thinking mindset. You arepassionate about security, compliance, and engineering excellence — and you inspire thosearound you to continuously grow and improve. We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements: Multi-cloud architecture expertise: Proven experience designing and operating enterprise-scale platforms on two or more major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud),including network topology, identity management, and governance Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong hands-on proficiency with IaC tools such as Terraform,Bicep, or equivalent, with experience managing large-scale, modular infrastructure codebases Platform engineering and DevOps practices: Solid experience building shared platformservices, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling that enable application teams to self-servein a secure and compliant manner Secure Landing Zones and platform design: Demonstrated experience in secure landingzone design, platform automation, DevSecOps tooling, network topology and connectivity,access management and privileged identity design, platform monitoring, securityarchitecture, and high availability architecture Cloud architecture and solution design: Demonstrated ability to produce and communicateclear architectural designs, reference architectures, and technical roadmaps aligned withbusiness and engineering strategy These are additional nice to haves: Experience designing disaster recovery and backup scenarios that meet non-functionalrequirements (NFRs), including accurate calculations for availability, RTO, and RPO Familiarity with observability and monitoring tooling across cloud environments Expertise in technology selection based on Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) andorganisational standards Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as .NET, Java, Python, or Ruby Strong stakeholder communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engageeffectively with Engineering Directors, Managers, Architects, and engineering teams Comfort working in transformational, complex, and fast-paced environments with a strongbias for getting things done Proficiency in English (required) About Swiss Re Swiss Re is one of the world's leading providers of reinsurance, insurance, and other forms ofinsurance-based risk transfer, working to make the world more resilient.
