We’re looking for someone to join our dynamic Community & Stakeholder Engagement team, where our focus is to truly understand and respond to the needs of our many customers, communities, and passengers, ensuring their perspectives shape our decisions and actions. As the Director of Community & Stakeholder Engagement Sydney West, you will lead a large, multidisciplinary team committed to building trust and understanding through authentic and meaningful engagement, to then enable delivery of outcomes that make a real difference. You’ll foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence, creating an environment where your team and partners feel motivated, empowered, and equipped to succeed. In this role, you'll: Lead community and stakeholder engagement across Sydney West, providing strategic direction on major transport initiatives and community priorities. Drive customer-centric and place-based engagement strategies across a diverse portfolio, including road upgrades, passenger and service improvements, active transport, safety and maintenance programs. Partner with project and operational teams to ensure community needs, local insights and stakeholder perspectives inform planning, decision-making and delivery. Build trusted relationships with communities, local government, stakeholders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, ensuring diverse voices are reflected in project outcomes. Provide expert advice on complex stakeholder issues, engagement risks, reputation management and emerging community priorities. Influence executive and project leaders through strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and customer insights that build trust and support better outcomes. Lead and develop a large, high-performing team, while acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on engagement strategy, emerging issues and stakeholder priorities. About you You’re a strategic communicator with a passion for people and place. You’re a strategic thinker who is well versed in resolving complex, high-impact customer and stakeholder issues and can provide expert advice and guidance. You are comfortable working in a matrix structure and collaborating across the organisation to achieve positive outcomes. You are passionate about forging meaningful relationships and developing a deep understanding of community and stakeholder needs within your area, so you can advocate for and drive positive results. You are an experienced people leader who has successfully led large teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and excellence, creating a positive environment where your team and partners are inspired and set up to succeed. You are a focused on continually improving the engagement practise and ensuring our communities, stakeholders and passengers have a consistent experience from Transport, regardless of their location. You love working in a team that has each other’s backs, knows how to have a laugh, and celebrates the wins (big or small) together.
