Finishing Grader Operator - Jindabyne and Cooma

In this role, you'll: Help maintain and improve the transport network that connects regional communities across New South Wales. As a Finishing Grader Operator, you'll use your specialist grading skills to achieve required levels and tolerances, support the delivery of road maintenance and construction works, and work collaboratively with a high-performing team to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. Key responsibilities include: • Operate graders and associated plant to deliver road construction, maintenance, levelling and finishing works in accordance with TfNSW standards, specifications and project requirements. • Perform a range of routine and complex civil maintenance and construction activities, using powered and non-powered tools and equipment to support the delivery of quality infrastructure outcomes. • Provide guidance and support to crew members, assisting with the coordination of daily work activities to ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard. • Conduct pre-start checks, inspections and routine maintenance of plant and equipment, including refuelling, fluid monitoring, fault reporting and record keeping. • Identify and address routine operational issues, applying sound judgement and established procedures while escalating more complex matters to supervisors as required. • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by complying with work health and safety policies, procedures and legislative requirements, while proactively identifying and managing workplace risks. • Participate in snow-clearing operations during the winter season, including after-hours call-outs, shift work and weekend operations when required to maintain network accessibility and safety. • Contribute to a positive team culture through effective communication, collaboration and a commitment to continuous improvement. About you You are a reliable and safety-focused team player who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes. You will bring: • Demonstrated experience in road construction and maintenance, with extensive experience operating finishing graders for pavement construction, maintenance, levelling and trimming activities. • Proven ability to trim and finish road pavements to specified levels, tolerances and quality standards. • Sound literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to accurately complete work records, plant documentation and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders. • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, with a demonstrated ability to identify hazards, manage risks and promote safe work practices. • The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and provide guidance and support to less experienced crew members. • A willingness to work outside normal business hours, attend call-outs, travel across the district and stay away from home when operationally required. To be successful in this role, you will possess: • A current Construction Industry White Card. • A current Class C Driver Licence (minimum P1). • Demonstrated experience operating graders in road construction and maintenance environments. • A residential address within 100 km driving distance of the Jindabyne or Cooma Works Depot. • A willingness to work outside normal business hours, attend call-outs, travel across the district and stay away from home when operationally required.
