Surveillance Officer

In this role, you'll: Conduct surveillance activities and support more complex inspections across road and construction projects. Working with nominated contractors, you will help ensure works are delivered safely, on time, to the required quality standards, and within project scope requirements in the Far West Precinct. The Surveillance Officer will also be responsible for: • Conducting routine site surveillance to verifying works are completed in line with required standards, specifications, processes, and quality requirements. • Monitoring contractor and delivery partner performance, tracking progress against milestones and deliverables, and supporting the successful delivery of the works program. • Assisting with preparing and reviewing project and contract documentation to supporting effective project management, contract administration, and works delivery outcomes. • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of surveillance activities to ensuring auditability, traceability, and compliance for works. • Representing Project Services on site and providing a conduit for the Contract Manager to provide technical advice, resolve issues, and escalate complex matters to support best-practice project and contract delivery. This ongoing full-time role can be based within the Far West Region (options include Broken Hill, Narrabri, Parkes, Dubbo or Nyngan). About you You are experienced in civil construction and maintenance, with a strong understanding of industry practices, standards, policies, codes, and compliance requirements. You are confident interpreting project, construction, and contract documentation, with a solid understanding of contract requirements and the ability to maintain accurate records and manage documentation in a construction or maintenance environment. You’re a strong communicator with proven relationship-building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, enabling you to work collaboratively with contractors, stakeholders, and project teams to achieve positive outcomes. You are highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver results in fast-paced contractor surveillance, asset maintenance, construction, or infrastructure environments. You’re confident using digital systems and mobile technology, including iPads, electronic reporting tools, and other computer-based applications to support project delivery and reporting. You hold a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver’s licence. You may be required to work outside of normal working hours on occasion, and you may be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home on occasion.
