MNSW - Media Advisor

Media Advisor Location – Parramatta (hybrid) Employment type – Ongoing full-time, 35 hours per week Grade – Clerk Grade 7/8 Salary – $116,981 pa - $129,492 pa plus employers’ contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading Your role Help shape and protect the reputation of Multicultural NSW through strategic media engagement and compelling storytelling. As a Media Advisor, you will develop high-quality media content, provide trusted advice on media matters, respond to emerging issues, and showcase initiatives that make a meaningful difference to culturally diverse communities across NSW. What you’ll do Drive proactive and responsive media activities that support the agency's priorities. Develop media releases, statements, briefing materials and other media content Monitor daily news, identify emerging issues and provide timely media advice Respond to media enquiries and prepare media reports and updates Identify and promote positive media opportunities across mainstream and multicultural media Maintain a forward media calendar and support media planning activities Build strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, stakeholders and the Minister's Office Contribute to effective issues management and reputation protection initiatives What we’re looking for We're seeking a media and communications professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure. Experience in media, journalism, public relations or a related communications field Strong media engagement, writing and stakeholder management skills Demonstrated ability to develop accurate, timely and engaging media content Confidence managing sensitive issues and providing sound communications advice Strong understanding of the contemporary media landscape and current affairs Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities Collaborative approach and ability to build effective working relationships Knowledge of government, parliamentary processes and multicultural communities is highly regarded Why join us?
