You will work across Responsible AI, AI security, governance, and compliance, partnering with engineering and product teams globally. As a Lead Responsible AI Engineer , you will become a subject matter expert in Responsible AI and help translate AI risks and regulatory expectations into practical engineering solutions. This is not primarily an AI model development role. Your focus will be on understanding how AI systems, LLMs, and AI agents can create risks and developing the tooling, controls, and guardrails needed to manage those risks. Responsible AI by Design : Develop tools, infrastructure, and processes that help developers, product owners, and product managers achieve Responsible AI compliance. Conduct Responsible AI assessments and provide technical guidance on risk identification, mitigation strategies, and regulatory compliance evidence. Shape company-wide processes to shift AI governance left and embed Responsible AI principles throughout the product development lifecycle AI Governance Tooling and MCP Scanners: Design, develop, and maintain automated tooling for AI governance and risk evaluation. Develop and enhance MCP scanning capabilities for automated assessment of AI systems, AI agents, and MCP servers. Build infrastructure that collects risk-related metadata, performs automated analysis, and produces actionable recommendations to improve security, governance, and compliance outcomes. Develop scalable CI/CD-integrated solutions that enable continuous evaluation of AI systems and AI-related risks. AI Guardrails : Develop technical guardrails that help ensure secure, reliable, and compliant AI systems. Design and implement controls for AI agents including runtime protections, policy enforcement, input and output validation, access controls, risk monitoring, and governance automation. Support teams in identifying and mitigating AI-specific risks while enabling safe adoption of emerging AI technologies. OSS Compliance Support : Support development teams using the company's OSS compliance tooling and processes. Maintain and improve OSS scanning infrastructure, assist teams in resolving scan failures and compliance issues, and contribute to automation that improves the efficiency, reliability, and usability of OSS compliance workflows. Software Engineering Excellence : Develop, test, deploy, and maintain production-grade software and automation solutions. Establish engineering best practices including unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD automation, code quality validation, and operational monitoring. Drive reliability, maintainability, and scalability of Responsible AI and compliance-related platforms and services. Communication and training: Communicate with and support teams adopting AI technologies, produce guidelines for developers and product managers, and develop training materials covering Responsible AI, AI governance, AI guardrails, and OSS compliance processes. Who are you? Hands-on software development experience across programming or scripting languages. Experience with Python is particularly relevant. Practical understanding of AI systems, LLMs, AI agents, and agentic workflows and the risks associated with their use. Understanding of Responsible AI concepts and AI risk management, including areas such as unreliable or harmful outputs, misuse, unsafe agent actions, security vulnerabilities, and inappropriate access to tools or data. Familiarity with AI governance and the regulatory landscape , and the ability to translate governance or regulatory expectations into technical controls and evidence. Experience designing, testing, deploying, and maintaining production-grade software and automation. Experience working with CI/CD environments ; familiarity with GitLab CI/CD is useful. Strong engineering fundamentals around testing, automation, reliability, maintainability, and monitoring. The ability to work effectively with engineering, product, security, governance, and other stakeholders and turn complex risk considerations into practical solutions. Experience with developer tooling, AI security, security engineering, compliance automation, privacy, OSS compliance, or governance systems can further support your success in this role.
