Vice President, APAC Data Governance Operationalisation

Role Summary The APAC Data Governance Operationalisation VP is responsible for supporting the implementation and adoption of Data Governance practices across the APAC region. The role will drive critical data identification, ownership assignment, governance implementation and stakeholder engagement across multiple jurisdictions. Working closely with business, risk, finance, regulatory reporting and technology stakeholders, the individual will support the execution of BCBS239 and broader Data Governance initiatives while helping embed governance processes into day-to-day operations. This role requires strong programme management, stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities, with responsibility for coordinating delivery activities across countries, business functions and implementation partners. Key Responsibilities Data Governance Operationalisation Drive execution of Data Governance Operationalisation initiatives across APAC entities. Support implementation of governance operating models, standards and frameworks aligned with BCBS239 and regulatory expectations. Establish sustainable governance processes that can be embedded into business-as-usual operations. Support country onboarding and governance implementation activities. Promote adoption of governance practices across business and technology functions. BCBS239 & Regulatory Data Governance Support implementation of BCBS239 and broader APAC regulatory Data Governance requirements. Translate regulatory expectations into practical governance activities and deliverables. Coordinate governance assessments, implementation plans and stakeholder reviews. Support governance readiness activities for internal audit, regulatory reviews and management reporting. Critical Data & Ownership Management Drive identification and governance of Critical Data Elements (CDEs), Key Data Elements (KDEs) and other critical business data. Support establishment of Data Owner and Data Steward accountability models. Facilitate ownership assignment and governance adoption across business and technology teams. Maintain governance inventories, ownership records and supporting documentation. Ensure governance responsibilities are clearly understood and operationalised by stakeholders. Programme Delivery Manage assigned workstreams, milestones, risks and dependencies. Coordinate activities across multiple countries and stakeholder groups. Work closely with onshore teams, offshore resources and consulting partners. Support preparation of implementation roadmaps, status updates and management reporting. Escalate delivery risks, issues and decisions requiring management attention. Stakeholder Engagement Build strong relationships with stakeholders across business, risk, finance, regulatory reporting and technology teams. Facilitate workshops, governance forums and working groups. Support executive reporting and preparation of presentation materials. Promote awareness and adoption of Data Governance practices across APAC. Required Experience & Qualifications Essential 8+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Regulatory Reporting, Risk Data Management or related disciplines. Experience supporting BCBS239 implementation or operationalisation within a banking environment. Demonstrated experience delivering Data Governance initiatives. Strong understanding of Critical Data Element (CDE) and Key Data Element (KDE) concepts. Experience supporting Data Ownership and Data Stewardship operating models. Strong programme and project management capabilities. Experience managing workstreams across multiple stakeholders and jurisdictions. Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills. Experience working with offshore resources and consulting partners. Exposure to Collibra or equivalent enterprise Data Governance platforms. Preferred Experience across APAC banking markets. Experience supporting Risk, Finance or Regulatory Reporting functions. Knowledge of MAS, HKMA, APRA and other regional regulatory expectations. Experience implementing governance operating models, processes and controls. Experience with Data Quality management, issue management or scorecard reporting.
