About this role: Entering Queensland Rail’s Major Projects division, you will be working on The Wave Greenfield Stage 2 Project as a Tunnel Lead . This role provides a critical technical assurance and coordination function, ensuring tunnel-related project outcomes are safe, compliant, fit-for-purpose and operationally effective. Working within a complex multi-disciplinary environment, you will collaborate with designers, contractors, project teams and stakeholders to coordinate technical interfaces, review and assure project deliverables, manage risks and issues, and support the successful delivery of tunnel infrastructure across all project phases. About the Opportunity: This is a fixed-term role through to 31 January 2032 , offering the opportunity to contribute to a landmark, long-term project. Working within a flexible and collaborative environment, the role supports project delivery across multiple locations, including Queensland Rail's Carseldine Office, Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail CBD offices, client offices and site-based settings. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across these environments and adjusting their work location to meet project needs. You can expect some of your responsibilities to include: Lead the provision of tunnel engineering expertise, advice and technical assurance to support delivery of the Wave Rail Program, against specified KRAs, ensuring scope, quality, safety and delivery timeframes are achieved to deliver a safe, operable and maintainable railway. Provide technical leadership, guidance and specialist advice to project teams and stakeholders in delivering commercial advantage and outcomes through business improvements, technology development and innovation. Ensure project teams demonstrate professional integrity and sound engineering practice in the development and delivery of tunnel engineering solutions that meet operational requirements and project objectives. Provide guidance, as a professional engineer, for tunnel engineering works and promote compliance across project teams with the requirements of professional practice and the Quality Management System to provide consistent output of tunnel engineering services, ensure compliance with safety, operational and environmental legislation, regulations and practices. Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective tunnel strategies and governance procedures and where applicable, build capability. Achieve the Wave targets, objectives, performance measures and safety responsibilities, while continually seeking opportunities to improve project performance and innovation outcomes. What you can bring to the role: Demonstrated expertise in developing and assuring long-term operational, maintenance and asset management strategies for tunnel infrastructure to support safe, reliable and sustainable railway operations. Proven ability to provide technical leadership, specialist advice and influence across multidisciplinary teams of professional engineers, technical specialists and project stakeholders. High level of skill in the delivery of project-focused tunnel engineering solutions that support successful rail infrastructure outcomes. Strong capability to influence and providing technical leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver sustainable commercial outcomes within a complex regulatory environment. Strong knowledge of statutory, regulatory and policy obligations, to satisfy operational, safety, environment and contractual requirements and processes within a complex rail infrastructure environment.
